Suatu ketika dulu Singapura sangat terkenal dengan anak-anak seni yang berbakat dan berkaliber. kalau kita lihat kembali filem-filem klasik waktu zaman P.Ramlee, hampir kesemua pelakon-pelakonnya mempunyai ciri dan keunikan yang tersendiri.

Contohnya, jika kita lihat lakonan Siti Tanjung Perak, menghidupkan watak didalam sesuatu cerita. Gayanya yang selamba, kata-katanya yang suka menyindir dan mimik muka yang garang, kadang pula penyayang berjaya mencerminkan sifat 'ibu-ibu' ketika itu.

Filem klasik VS Filem melayu pada hari ini ? Cuma ada dua hal yang aku fikirkan.

1) Pelakon yang berjaya meninggalkan kesan kepada penonton.

2) Filem-filem yang paling disenangi orang Melayu kita dari masa ke masa.

Dari bunyinya memang lah mudah. Tapi untuk mendapatkannya, Masyaallah,memang susah.

Barisan pelakon-pelakon handal bukan sahaja dapat kita lihat pada era P.Ramlee saja.

Cuba lungsuri kembali era 90an , aku berani untuk mengatakan drama-drama melayu tempatan pada waktu itu tidak kurang hebatnya. Hebat dalam erti kata, jalan cerita yang menarik dan pelakon-pelakonnya yang sangat berbakat. Muka-muka yang biasa kita lihat pada waktu itu seperti Jorah Ahmad, Mahadi Syor, Azhar Norlesta, Sahfudin Mahfudz,Seri Wahyuni Jaes sering mewarnai kaca televisyen kita. Aku senang menonton drama melayu pada waktu itu kerana sepertinya pelakon-pelakon itu sangat menghayati watak yang dibawakan. Memang tidak dinafikan lagi, memang berbeza pelakon dahulu dan pelakon sekarang.

Aku berpendapat drama tempatan memang ada peluang untuk pergi jauh. Cuma dari apa yang aku telitikan, drama-drama pada masa kini lebih mementingkan X-factor dari isi dan mutu lakonan. X-factor itu memang lah perlu. Siapa tak mahu melihat muka yang manis di kaca tv, tapi yang mengecewakan lagi adalah - ada rupa tapi lakonannya gagal disampaikan. Kata orang, nak menangis pun nak kena maintain lawa. (kata orang....)

Bisakah drama melayu Singapura maju dan berkembang atau tetap akan kekal pada status yang sering dipersoalkan motifnya?

setelah hari ini, aku pulang dengan spekulasi yang membuat aku semakin yakin bahawa ada individu senang membuat penilaian cuma dengan memandang sesuatu dari satu sisi.

aku merasakan sifat itu sama dengan menghakimi sesuatu perkara dengan tidak mempunyai sifat keadilan dan lebih buruk lagi menunjukkan kejahilan individu tersebut.

'stereotyping' itu perkara biasa. aku tidak menafikan kegunaannya. cuma jika disalah gunakan sama seperti mengacu pistol di kepala sendiri.

apakah pandangan anda tentang stereotyping? adil atau tidak?

sekian lama aku tidak menulis dalam bahasa melayu,kini 2009 aku cuba menguji sendiri keupayaan itu. semoga tidak beku bahasa melayu baku ku seterus ini.... Insyaallah... :)

bahasa melayu juga selalu disebut-sebut bahasa ibunda. dahulu aku pernah tertanya-tanya kenapa bahasa melayu dipanggil bahasa ibunda? apa tidak layak dipanggil bahasa ayahanda? bukan kah ayah itu seorang lelaki, sinonim dengan figur seorang pemimpin atau dalam erti kata lain wali didalam keluarga ? mungkin bahasawan atau bangsawan silam didominasi kaum wanita? aku tidak peka dengan sejarah bahasa melayu juga bukan niat aku nak menuduh. cuma jadi suatu pertanyaan. bahasa melayu sahaja? bahasa inggeris juga menggunakan sebutan yang sama. 'mother tongue'. jadi kenapa?

terus terang aku merasa seperti anak yang baru belajar menulis bahasa melayu. mungkin bukan dalam segi penggunaan bahasa itu sendiri, cuma ilham yang hendak aku sampaikan. rasanya seperti aku mengarang puisi. hahah.

i've been waiting months now but feedback is just reports; how many jobs i've applied, how many people applied for the same job, my expected salary is lower or higher than than the rest of the applicants. i don't need reports ! just get me a job !

so wat did i do? courtesy of my new canon printer/scanner/copier (cheyy tak important eh..) have all the papers copied and each set goes into a brown envelope. ive got an actual A4 size envelope la! in the name of being kiasu...

talking bout hard to get a job, now, the bad time and being a job seeker and on the dole , i feel that as much people find it inhibiting it is also enfeeble . this condition just couldnt get worst.

i remembered the moment when singapore was affected by the world recession in 2003, i was still in secondary school then and wasnt thinking about how serious it was , clearly because i was still schooling and not agonizing. u can see episodes of despair , be it on the papers,news and personal. now i have a taste of the medicine. dude it sure doesnt tastes good.hah.

no work? study laa... thats the more common suggestions people would give you? ever.
i think it is a good alternative to fill in blanks between jobs. however how much can school cost you? a diploma shave about 5-6 k off your pocket, a degree is definitely much more expensive. 20-30 k. back in the days, i don't think people would study without a cause (which usually the case of wanting to self-upgrade), but now people have to study or else least chance for you to get a job. what if i've already got myself a diploma and i dont intend to pursue my studies? am i given a choice or no choice at all? sounds dubious aint it? i have to agree that this is the fact that we have to face. tougher competitions in respective industry in terms of employment.

thanks to the people republic of china and the pinoys from the phillipines,flooding our tiny island and replacing almost all positions. soon we can see all of em working here Singaporeans ending up working in their country instead. HAH. oh yah have you realised that too? are the pinoys getting richer nowadays or what. Mabuhay~ :)

Puncak means peak or maximum in bahasa. being in puncak gives you the pleasure of being in paris, the south-east asia version. tak payah pening-pening kepala nak pegi france. makanan pon halal, tak was-was.

savouring indonesian delicacies like ikan gurame asem manis, sup buntut, ayam pop, sambal terasi,sayur asem while overlooking western java highlands and greeneries (really green!).

have you ever tasted rabbit's meat. now if you are adventurous enough and ever gonna step your foot in puncak, try their own speciality satay kelinci! you can spot small vendors selling this rare delicasy by the side road. worth a shot. you dont have to worry about inconvinience in puncak. you can find food almost everywhere,every corner and the most important thing is that all of em' are haaa - lal. accomodation? no problem. they have villas for rental and mountain resorts. the common ones will be villas. a unit of villa can accomodate 4-5 people or more (like those chalets you can find in sg , just bit more spacious.).

during my previous trip to puncak , i tried this cool villa called 'Bukit Talita Villa'. its superb for lovebirds or newly weds to spend a good vacation/honeymoon. woody interior and carvings, romantic bedding and they have a marvelous view from the veranda. the only minus point is the location. not accessible and the entrance to the villa is really steep! imagine your vehicle going up more than 45 degrees above ground! hahah. anyway theres more good places to stay, no harm trying.

unprepared trip

im about to doze off in awhile. came back from work, beat and i havent
prepare my stuffs for the trip. i'll do it later when i wake up. poor bubie have to werk in the morning. wish could bring u along. :)

though its a paid trip, im not sure if im gonna enjoy jakarta this time. planned by my aunt, agenda is to visit my step grandmother in cikampek ( south Bandung). fyi shes just a few years older than my mum. hahah. the last time i visited this place when i was 11 years old. so yea. dont know what to expect. expect the unexpected lah kata oranggg. hahah.

will be back in 5 days. updates on the next post. till then. byebye now.

seeing is believing. and i saw pharrell and shay haley live just few hours ago.
mannn i cant forget that moment . im seeing mr 4th on the hottttttest hiphop chart gods.

the atmosphere heats up with 'everybody nose'. the crowd gets crazy since and im at the top of my voice hailing and stretching my arms for the greightesssttt n.e.r.d .

pharrell is bigger than i thought and shay haley is pretty short and hulky? and theres no chad hugo !!!

i got the 66 dollars tix which landed me on the 2nd floor but its all good. :) still manage to snap few shots and record some of the performances. finally i'm doing the 'startrek handsign' for a reason.hahahah. its somesort of unity communication for all n.e.r.d ians. hahah hows dat for a club member name?

the show lasted for about 2 hours. yes definitely not enough and i wish theres an aftershow party at least but still, all gooooodddd. :)

i was googling online about chinese muslims in singapore, if u ask me what triggers me to do dat? well i was at siglap having waffle ice-cream (gelare tuesdays half-price for waffles.) and theres no seats. and when i look around, mannnnn they all chinese yaw! hahah. i swear im NOT hinting
racism or anything but i guess im just alittle one-sided 'at dat moment'. u cant even find a brown skin or non slit-eyed person. so i try to comfort myself by giving myself a thought. what if some of the peeps here are muslims? well that works... or at least look behind the counter, theres a malay server. hahah.

so back track, i read about chinese muslims in singapore, about how they live their life as a convert and infact there are some who are born into the religion. interesting aint it?

while reading this blog, i stumbled upon another blog, about dis malay dude who converted to christianity. woooo...hows dat. the moment i read it , i kinda get the chills, its like watching some pontianak show. babe this dude is really deep and passionate about his 'newfound religion' and is REALLY GLAD that he is now a christian. talking about how jesus saves his life and brought him back to the right path and asking all christian fellows to pray for the malay race to be saved!
just as my jaw started to drop, i saw more comments from MORE malay christians complimenting on this dude's conversion. and the more shocking part is dat this people are young, in their early 20s and some converted when they are teens.

people, please dont get the wrong message from my post. i am not trying to create religious or racial disputes here but this is just to tell ya'll that this does happens in Singapore. we do know that there are malay christians living among us but we just don't know how many.and the topic about religion conversion readily stirs emotions and tingles our sensitivity.

it is OK to hear a christian converting to Islam. but the question is, how do the malay muslims handle issues of their people converting to Christianity?

i apologise if some parts of this post offend any of you. i have no intention at all to offend u guys in anyway ,take this as a discussion.love you people. peace.

its 7:05am . back from kembangan , had coffee n super duper late supper with hafez and matt. this was after catching matt's show at ben & jerry's cathay. that was my first time seeing matt perform solo and mannnn he's really really really good. i dont listen to alternative rock and perhaps anything dat is 'rock' simply switch me off but but buttttt matt just blow me away. hahaha exagerating eh... but really he's good , so guys if you like watching acoustic performance, do catch dis dude at ben & jerry's on saturdays. its an open mic nite so u can choose to embarrass yourself infront of the crowd (like how i screw the 'heaven' number) or u can just sit and watch matt play while eating your eyez-kreem.

i've managed to sought out my certificates and file em', which to me still look VERY odd.

WHY?

1) i dont have my official "O" level transcript. ( was suppose to get it back then after ive collected my results but i did not, and now i cant remember why.)

2) i cant include my 'Certificate Of Completion for Secondary School Education' coz its now comparable to a toilet paper. (credits to my nephew yang baik budiman.)

3) till now im still searching for this particular file which has most of my past achievements and certs.

4) i havent got my official diploma certificate and transcripts so i have to replace em' with my result slips.

5) i have more certs from my 'NS' than compared to my education.

interview is on monday babe ..mondayyyyyyy!

next day reservice and i dont even know where i place my boots.

woke up at about 5pm. after heading vivo in the morning, i went back home,looking up on my mail. was hoping for some replies. apparently i registered to be a 'priority' member in jobsdb and paid about ...say 22 dollars. sounds desperate huh? hehehe.. just as i thought im just gonna get scammed, someone called me this evening. it was a missed call while i was asleep.

"who could this be.....hmmmm employer ker?", hati kecilku bertanya. hee..

i called back but noone answered. so u know wat i did? heheh... i called the 100 number to check whos the caller. RING RING RING.... "thank you for calling singtel service 100", suddenly the automated greeting just got cut replaced by "hi Lisa speaking,how may i help?" ...eh boleh gtu...hahah..."hi, i just wanna check with you the caller for this number" , "yes sir,can i have the number please?" so i just tell her the number. "sorry sir, the number u've given me is invalid anyway are u aware of the charges for such enquiry?", the operator was talking so fast that i went blank for awhile. "ahhh how much issit eh?", i sounded a lil concern. "sorry sir, i cant reveal the charges of the enquiry."

" HUH???! ",my head frowned with confusion and if u can see me in a cartoon show,u'll see a few big questionmark signs around my head.

so back to reality. i was pretty anxious, who might call me on two separate but almost similar number? looks like an office line to me. just as i was about to log on my MSN, my phone rang...u'uh..my alltime loved ringtone 'Beautiful by Pharell'.

"eyyy the number", me for a second delighted.

"hello?", my handsome voice greets the caller.

"hi im calling from bla bla bla ( i didnt catch the company's name), i have viewed your resume and im inviting u for an interview. are you free on Monday?", this very chinese lingo-ed speaking lady initiated a very interesting invitation. i asked her to hold on while i check my schedule.

me: oh yes mam' i am free on monday.can i have the address?
the lady: i will email you for a clearer information.
me: oh olrite. see you then, thank you.
the lady: yah , thank you.

the odd thing is , i wasnt feeling so excited about the good news.

so i went to check my mail slightly later. my eyes browsed thru the list of new mails.

i wasnt really feeling for hiphop till i listen to Lauryn Hill.

she unleashed hiphop and soul substance from depth of hearts & minds right through ours.

well im not thinking ghetto now at least but its about communication that is rigid to explain.

my acquaintance know me as optimistic, loves to fool around. my frens know me as someone 'chancy',like a surprise gift, u don't know whats inside. but simply i can say im forthright if they know me. besides mood swings and snappy remarks , i still am ALL thoughtful. hahah...

sometimes i wonder, how much i mean to these people i called friends. am i or am i not relevant to them? how often they thought of me when they wanna hang out? do they wanna celebrate occasions with me? what do they not like about me? all these questions sure sound insecure but have u ever asked urself these things?

these questions immersed my mind after today.

have you ever wondered where you are from?
your origins , where your ancestors came from, what language you speak?

this is actually one of the things that i find interesting to talk about. i've yet to find someone whos really passionate talking about their race or bloodline. usually if i ever open up a discussion on 'actual race', my friends will probably go like 'malay' laaa and full stop. very very least interested or just have no knowledge at all??? don't you ever thought about it or at least ask your parents ?

in Sinjiapo theres not only malays foyo info. heard of ethnic races? we're all made up of ethnic races . if you look back in the olden days or did your research, early settlers in Singapore includes the Chinese,Indian,Arabs and the Malays. the 'Malays' consists of different independant races like the Bugis (south Sulawesi),Javanese (east,central Java) , Banjarese (south Kalimantan), Bataks (Medan), Baweans (Pulau Boyan) and Minangkabaus (Padang). probably you have 'Malay' printed on your IC but hey u can never know. i am 'Malay' in my IC!

the REASON why these races register themselves as 'Malay' was because of the 'special position' that the government intended for this specific race. so the rest of the races wouldnt want to miss this oppurtunity and as long as they look 'malay' or speak 'malay', they would tag themselves as 'Malay' on their IC.

just incase ur wondering why your school fees arent as expensive as the other races like the Chinese and Indians.

i'll call it a lullaby of extermination...hahah...

i was just lazing around when i heard that very vintage dialogue . i was at the dining area ,POPed my head over my living room to see wats playing on TV.

"man this show iss freakin' old" .

i was like six when i last saw this show, if i could recall on my old SONY-gigantic tupperware box tv, with all the channel buttons on it.

but hey its enlightning to watch classic malay films. and i remember actors and actresses of those times babyyyyy. yes i may not be born then but as a kid, i can recollect whos who. like for this one, starring R Jaafar, S Kadarisman , Zaiton, Anne dan lain-lain lagi. hahah aku tak ingat semua la...

i didnt watch the whole show though coz i kinda get the idea of the whole story.

the lady's hubby died while searching for telor ikan tembakol (mudskipper's eggroe) - ewwww wonder how it tastes like.

then she left her 2 kids for she's deprived for failing to savour eggroes for the 2nd time.

as a result of the disposession and depressed of her misfortunes,she rannnnn towards a cave of DEATH (was believed that dis cave seeks its last victim before it gets its peace.) - and yea this lady sings the batu belah lullaby on the way to the cave as to summon the demon.

she died,eaten by the demoncave but somehow she still have time to reappear to tell her kids of wat to do next with their lives. corny but okayy.

the 2 kids went to a kampong and taken care by a witch and bla bla bla. and this is like only 1/10 of the story.hahah malas nak cerita.

maybe i can take this as break after watching too much crappy malay dramas on SURIA. including mine.. hahah... u can never get that same feeling like when you are watching MALAY black & white shows. scrutinizing same formulas , i can just YAWWNN watching malay dramas. at least not as effective as how malay shows used to appeal its audience in the early 90s. is it just prevailing content that producers just redo ?

lack of creative ideas? no good actors/actresses? simply no hope? hmmmm... well folks,u decide.. :)

tight week . oh yes yes . i gotta settle few things this week.
first on list. RESERVICE. waduhhhh pusing gua mikirin yang inehhh....arrrrhhhhhh....like many, i wish i can just exclude this unappropriate-time consuming-not important-die2 have to commit ISH --> means 'sh*t' in a sopan way. hahaha. its been 2 years since i ORD-ed but it feels like i just left camp yesterday...haiz... can't complain further...guess i'll just have to come to a peace wivvid.

second: completed my diploma recently.hurhur. Alhamdulillah, i did quite good. dan sebagai seseorang yang dahagakan ilmu, ku ingin melanjutkan pelajaranku hingga ke menara gading. cheyyydebaaabedaaahhh like reall only ehh hahahaiiii... what im tryna say is dat, i have to quickly make quiries about the degree program with bubies. just need you everytime i do things. *wink wink* i remembered talking to the course administrator though, this dude called Nathan,next class starting this APRIL. i hope i can make it for dat one but there are just few things dat kinda bother me. the thing is, i had dis job in mind. its a job @ Discovery Channel. sounds great aint it? if i ever made it thru the interview then i'll be joining Ahmad a.k.a Abdky a.k.a kaki padang pasir a.k.a abang body. hahai. but i still have to keep my options open of course, i cant just narrow to one. Insyaallah, pray for me friends. :)

it feels like sunday. yes everyday feels like sunday. why may i ask? maybe coz i have a big 'BUM' on my forehead.hehe.not literally 'dat' bum or benjol but i am unemployed.yessss....UNEMPLOYED. some of you would probably ask, "dude what do u mean ur unemployed, thought ur werking at dot dot dot ?". sigh. yes i am dudeeee!
